hey y'all! i’m Mary Esposito, the artist and Fiber Fairy behind Purple Pear. 🧚♀️🧶
Purple Pear began long before it became a business. when i was 13, i spent several months in inpatient eating disorder treatment and was allowed to bring one stuffed animal with me. i chose a little purple pear plushie that brought me comfort during one of the hardest seasons of my life. years later, that little pear would become the namesake of Purple Pear. 💜
while in treatment, i learned to knit and discovered just how powerful making something with your own hands could be. fiber arts gave me comfort, focus, and a way to express myself when i needed it most.
what started as a coping skill quickly became a passion. at 14, i started Purple Pear to share my creations with the world. since then, that tiny creative outlet has grown into a community of hundreds of thousands of people who share my love for yarn, creativity, and making things a little outside the ordinary.
today, i knit, crochet, design patterns, create custom pet lookalikes, make jewelry for fellow crafters, and teach fiber arts to others. whether i’m turning someone’s beloved pet into a plushie or dreaming up my next quirky creation, i still find the same kind of magic in yarn that i discovered all those years ago. ✨
Purple Pear has always been about more than what i make. it’s about creativity, self-expression, connection, and finding joy in making something uniquely yours.
