hi! i'm mary esposito, the artist behind Purple Pear 🧶
Purple Pear began long before it became a business. at 13, during inpatient eating disorder treatment, i was allowed to bring one stuffed animal with me to the hospital. i chose a little purple pear plushie that brought me comfort during a difficult season of life. that plush eventually became the namesake for Purple Pear 💜
while in treatment, i learned to knit and discovered how healing fiber arts could be. creating gave me something i desperately needed: comfort, focus, and a way to express myself again. what began as a coping skill slowly turned into a creative outlet, then a business, and eventually a community i never expected.
today, Purple Pear has blossomed into a space for creativity, connection, and self-expression. from LGBTQ+ pride bees to bodily anatomy art, every piece is inspired by craftivism, which is the idea that soft things can still make strong statements 💜🧶
